Do you think you can multitask? Try enrolling in Sidehustle bootcamp and you will know what multitasking is really about.

For those who think they can’t, enroll first and you’d discover you have that hidden talent.

This week was really busy and filled with tons of decision-making for my team. My team’s project was to “launch a blog using either Blogger or WordPress for any industry. By the end of the week, the blog must have a minimum of 6 articles each, must include images, and must have a minimum of 100 readers”. No matter how competent you consider yourself, you would agree that launching a blog is not an easy task to carry out within a week especially when your team contains newbies. I read the task many times to be sure it was not a mistake, and perhaps it was a task for our facilitator, Miss Peculiar instead but hey, we are newbies and that feeling is justified.

Putting all our eggs in one basket would be a dangerous option, therefore, we agreed to spilt the team. After much deliberation and vote cast, we decided that the entertainment industry(getting 80% of the votes) should be our focus. Hence, the team split: Writers, WordPress researchers, and Blogger researchers. The writing team (Monsuroh, Hauwa, and Juliet) were initially confused as to how their task was to be executed. They had to write six blog posts with no provision for superpowers. After brainstorming, they decided to write about the Worldcup semi-finals since it was a live event happening, even though the blog site had not been launched yet. How clever. After a heated disagreement with the entire team on their choice of topic, they reevaluated their strategy and came up with interesting blog topics.

The Blogger site researchers (Maryam, Helen, and Kate) made us aware that, although the domain name and plug-ins are free, you have little control over your blog and the image quality was not the best for our task. This does not imply that the website is difficult to use, we just couldn’t adopt it for our task. The WordPress team (Zulieha, Kenechi, and Hakeemat) learned that WordPress had a lot to it. Aside from the fact that you had to pay for hosting and a domain name, it had a very technical interface that is not beginner friendly. Due to cost and technicalities, we decided to go for the easy option, Blogger but team WordPress did not let us rest. They stated that WordPress is a better option because

• It is versatile

• More people are familiar with the interface

• Simpler to use and navigate over time.

They also found out you can do much with a free account (domain name). With that, we switched to WordPress.

The writers were happy to get more hands-on deck as blogger researchers—who may have assumed that they could escape getting creative—ended up working alongside the writers. The WordPress team ccontinued its exploration as they became more acquainted with the WordPress interface. We wrapped up our project with 8 blog posts and a blog site.

Team's weakness: Most members do not tolerate criticism.Anytime there’s a need for a correction, we are always at each other’s paths. Teammates' ability to understand and define thetask proves difficult at first which leads to bad time management.

Team's Strength: Despite minor arguments, the team remained focused on the task. We understood that group calls aided our comprehension of the task. The team leads engaged questions well too if we disregard the never-ending "Monsuroh mute your mike!". Overall, the team members are kind and accommodating. They understood the assignment.

Result: We were able to launch our blog site using WordPress with at least six articles, each of which had seven hundred words and contained the required images.
